HARRISBURG - Fire and emergency response organizations in the 199th Legislative District in Cumberland County are set to receive more than $157,000 in funding under the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program, according to state Rep. Barb Gleim (R-Cumberland).

The bridge carrying PA Route 641 over Big Spring Creek on the border of Newville Borough and West Pennsboro Township will be dedicated in his honor under Act 17 of 2023. Shughart died during a rescue operation in service to his country on Oct. 3, 1993, during the battle of Mogadishu, Somalia. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
