Gleim Applauds More Than $157,000 in Local Fire, EMS Grants

HARRISBURG - Fire and emergency response organizations in the 199th Legislative District in Cumberland County are set to receive more than $157,000 in funding under the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program, according to state Rep. Barb Gleim (R-Cumberland).

“Our fire and EMS companies are vital to our communities and this grant money will go a long way in helping them with the equipment, training and other necessities they need in order to do their jobs effectively,” said Gleim. “I have and will continue to support our emergency service providers in any way possible.”

Grant recipients are as follows:

• Citizens Fire Company No. 1 Mount Holly Springs - $27,891
• Cumberland Goodwill EMS - $15,000
• Newburg-Hopewell Fire Company - $15,676
• North Middletown Township Fire Company - $15,246
• Friendship Hose Company (EMS) - $15,000
• Friendship Hose Company (Fire) - $12,879
• Shippensburg Area EMS - $15,000
• Upper Frankford Township Fire Company - $13,309
• West Pennsboro Fire Company - $12,663
• Yellow Breeches EMS - $15,000

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature which is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.

All companies that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. Companies must file a grant agreement with OSFC to receive their grants.
